RJ45 jack

Started by Chen April 13, 2004
I need to move the ethernet jack from RCM3200 to my PCB due to the
packaging of the product.

Any suggestion on where to order a compatible jack besides recycling the
one from RCM3200?

Do I simply remove the RJ45 Jack from RCM3200, and use TPIN+/- and TPOUT+/-
from the connector of RCM3200 and construct the same way as rabbit's
schematics?

In the schematic, TX_CT goes back to ZYREG, and it is not available on the
connector, do I need to do something about it? Do I need to remove R52 and
R50(49.9Ohms) on RCM3200?

Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated!

A check of the RJ45 on my RCM3200 indicates that it
was produced by a company named Pulse Technology.
Their URL is www.pulseeng.com. They have offices in
several countries so you might check them out. Going
to the manufacturer will most likely get you an
address of someone close to you that is a distributor.
Be careful about what RJ45 you get because as I
understand it, the connector also has electronics to
interface to the Ethernet bus.

I bought an extension with an RJ45 connector(mounted at the
enclosure) from DigiKey. Wasn't cheap (as far as I remember)but saved
me the time to modify the RCM3200.

Take a look at the RCM3220 -- it sounds like it's just an RCM3200
without the Ethernet connector.

I use the RCM2210 with an external Bothhand connector on my product. I
was able to source an equivalent connector (as far as Ethernet
magnetics goes) with the addition of link and activity LEDs.

You'll need to check the pinouts of your core module to make sure all
of the necessary signals are available. I haven't worked with the 3000
series units yet.

Thanks you all for you reply.

RCM3200 use ASIX's AX88796L as its ethernet controller. According to its datasheet, ZVREG is required to connected to the TX_CT, and this line is not available on Rabbit's connector

Any comment on this?
