RCM3700 No Rabbit Processor detected

Started by John Groenland June 27, 2004
I worked with a RMC3700 for a few weeks without any problem. Then I worked on another PIC project for a week. Now I get the message "No Rabbit Processor detected". During that week I loaded some new software (PIC compiler) on my PC. I don't think that is the problem though because I can connect and program a RCM2000. There I use another cable and another board but it works so it is probably not my PC. I changed the RMC3700 for a new one. The new board did not work either. Is it the cable or something else??

Any thoughts?

Thanks

John

The original programming cable for the R2000 modules was a "5V only"
cable -- that is it used a 5V MAX232 chip and won't work at 3.3V. The
cables have been upgraded since Rabbit introduced 3.3V modules with the
R3000 chip and they work at either 5V or 3.3V. They also added an
additional connector to the current version cable that doesn't included
the debug (SMODE) signals so you can use it as a regular serial port on
Serial A.

It could be your cable, if you are trying to use a 5V cable with the
RCM3700 module.

It checks for the status pin toggling via the DSR line. You can turn
that off by unchecking Processor verification in the comm options.

Hopefully your PIC project didn't mess with your PC serial drivers.

Are you using a USB/RS232 converter cable?
I have tried unchecking Processor verification but it does not work. The
serial driver should be ok because I works with the Rabbit 2000.
I don't use a USB/RS232 converter and have a normal (no laptop) PC.
I use a original cable for the Rabbit RMC3700. For the Rabbit 2000 I have a
different cable.
