I agree with Paul. Consider what this group would be like if *all* of us who are
developing tools were to post announcements here every time we had a minor
upgrade. As a developer myself I understand the excitement of creating something
new and wanting to tell everybody about it. However, I also appreciate that not
everybody might be excited about it as I am.
It is not only the frequency of the announcements that are irritating - it is
also the fact that they are duplicated in other forums that I monitor (e.g.
SparkFun).
Please don't take the advice personally and go off sulking in a corner.
Just find out who is really interested in your work and find an alternative way
to keep them informed of what you are doing and let the rest of us know when you
have something really significant to announce. I wouldn't expect this to be
more than every three months,
P.S. We recently released a free 'Starter Edition' of Astrobe for
Cortex-M3. I have refrained from announcing this before in this newgroup as I
didn't want to upset anybody ;-)

As a slightly different view on this, I would expect we would all have some
benefit out of might come phrased as:
"While developing version X I found that the documentation is
wrong/inaccurate and you need to do Blah versus what is written"
OR
"I found during the development of version X that Y had issues/did not
work/was a lot more complicated than expected and this group may now benefit
from my time .."
To me, that's the kind of sharing that helps us all because one day we may
be struggling with the same issue.

Hi,
I think this theme needs to end now - we have had more emails pro and
contra on this theme than the number of update messages.
As far a I am concerned, he should be able to send update messages
...Alex is working on this project for the LPC group as a whole
and not charging for it. I wish to thank him for his effort and commend
his initiative, Well done Alex.
If one is not interested in the Wizard the just delete the email.

Alex: very nice work dude! , im sure you have a lot of support from the majority
of people in this forum, and every news you release are expected and followed
closely. please keep us informed!
Paul: are you serious? This guy is making a good contribution to everyone, same as you do frequently but this just seems like an attack on a "rival company", despict the fact that its not. Also not very happy with this stone throwing in the first place and then justify yourserlf with an "I was just saying" attitude. Not nice at all
Nobody can for sure decide on what is and whats not a contribution, at least while we stay on topic

I have also removed the OD, HYS, INV and pull up/down modes from these pins.

I want to thank everyone who has shared his thoughts in this thread.
As far as I'm concerned the subject is closed so please lets move on because this conversation is starting to create some tension
between us which may even turn into an argument and I really don't want to be the cause of that.
Lets move back to what we are here for, out love/passion/joy for electronics.
Please let this be the last post of this thread.
Thank you
Alex

Sure, that can happen, but why not simply advertise the RSS feed? Otherwise, why provide an RSS feed?

Yes.

What's wrong with requesting simply to conform to well-defined newsgroup and mailing list announcement etiquette?

Holy crap. Did you read what I originally wrote? Or did you stop reading before you got to the end?

You have now made it clear what your position is. I have no idea what point your sentence is supposed to make.
