LPC11C24 CAN_H/CAN_L pins

Started by "Jea...@gmail.com [lpc2000]" May 14, 2014
Hi:

I have a question with regards to the CAN_H and CAN_L pins of the LCP11C24.
My understanding is that this microcontroller integrates a CAN transceiver,
and these pins can be directly connected to the hardware layer of CAN bus.

Looking at reference designs, one of them for the MCB1000-vers26 (which I
believe is the latest available) shows on sheet 2 that the CAN_H/CAN_L are
connected to an external transceiver (TJA1040).

Could anybody confirm that this is a mistake, and that these pins can be
used directly on a CAN bus link?

Regards,
JS

Are you sure it was LPC11C24 in the schematic? The one I found, had
LPC11C14.

Hi:

Thanks for the reply. This is the schematic I am referring to:
http://www.keil.com/mcb1000/mcb1000-schematics.pdf which shows am LPC11Cxx
device. You are right this is not an LPC11C24 but an LPC11C14.
I had assumed the development board was generic to the LPC11Cx4.

Indeed the LPC11C14 does not integrate the transceiver.

JS

Ah, Ok. Actually it was LPC11Cxx in the schematic from NXP site too but
the file title said "Keil LPC11C14 Eval Board Schematic". Quite
confusing indeed...

Hi Jean Sebastien,

Check the schematics here on LPCWare.com
http://www.lpcware.com/system/files/LPCXpressoLPC11C24revB.pdf http://www.lpcware.com/system/files/LPCXpressoLPC11C24revB.pdf

See sheet #5.

BTW: The Keil schematics were created at a time when the LPC11C24 was not a existing part.

Ken
