MSP-FET430UIF - Crossworks cooperation

Started by timokirschke June 25, 2008
Hi all,

I'm too stupid to install the MSP-FET430UIF without(!) installing IAR
or CCE before. As I understood, the Crossworks 2.0 eval MSP430 DLL
Interface inside the Targets window should fit with the UIF without
any external installation while using the "$(StudioDir)/bin/
msp430.dll". After doubleclicking on the DLL interface:
"Can't connect to terget USB: Couldn' initialize device interface"
Similar things occur, when doubleclicking onto one of the UIF-targets.

Do I have to install an external driver for the UIF?
Where can I find it?

Thank you in advance!
Cheers, Timo

Right now I believe you need to install either of those to get the driver.
I don't think TI send out a separate driver.

Thanks Paul,
I got the drivers from a student, who installed the Kickstart. It
works in principle. Now crossworks(?) prompts: "Firmware upgrade
required" after doubleclicking on the DLL interface. I worry that
this will end in the same question. Therefore I'll ask TI for the
actual files by email.

No, just right click on the FET target interface in the Targets window and
Select Upgrade Firmware.

Hi, I use MSP-FET430UIF too. I've installed only the FET430UIF libraries from IAR, that is, the TIUSBFET drivers and then I use GNU mps430-jtag command to program the chip by the next line:

msp430-jtag -l=TIUSB -e -r file.elf

I don't know if I can't attach files, but I'm attaching now the drivers for WinXP.

bye, Esteban

Excuse me Paul if I'm boring,

Following possibilities if rightclicking on one of the targets:
Connect, Disconnect, Reconnect,
Reset, Erase All, Erase Range,
Download File, Verify File,
New Target Interface, New Folder,
Restore Default Targets, Export Target Definitions to XML, Import
Target Definitions from XML,
Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete, Raname, Properties.
No Upgrade at all :(

Did you download the *latest* build and you *did* right click on the UIF,
didn't you? Not the PIF?

Yes, if its timecode is 26.02.2008 03:26. I do not know a different
link than this: ...\msp430_crossworks_wavefront_win_i86.zip
Isn't it the right version:

Hey Paul, I tried all of course. Remember the short video at ATC-
closing. ;)

I will try to remove and reinstall Crossworks, downloaded the Zip
again today.

Thanks,
Timo
