Hello, I'm using the Lassen IQ module and a TI msp430 microcontroller to communicate with the module. My goal is to use the 1PPS signal for timing synchronization of a data logger. But at the moment I'm stuck with some basics. The 1PPS triggers the microcontroller to send a request to the gps module to get the gps time. The gps module answers correctly and sends the gps time information. ...

I know this question has been asked before (not by me), but since some time has passed and the question did not receive many different answers I ask it again. I need a GPS receiver and antenna. For my application size is important. Do any of you have any recomendations? And another question. Can GPS give direction? Jardar

Hi All, We are working towards making a GPS tracking device. The requirements for the battery life and the size are crucial (aiming towards smallest device size and max. battery life). I will highly appreciate if recommendations could be made regarding the GPS sensor and antenna we may use. Any response will be highly appreciated. Thank you, Ashu __________________________________ Do you

I have (and have seen) a GPS module with an integrated antenna that looks like a ceramic tile/block and a little ball in the center. I can't see to find the source of it, but I think it originates from Japan (then again who knows). When seen in the market they have various names printed on the stickers on top. Any idea? Thanks. ------------------------------------

I have a program that has been running for some time (msp430F2012). I make daily mods using the TI FET and 2 wire JTAG. The program interfaces with a GPS or PC through an external UART, RS232, 4800 baud. It also manages 3 PWM outputs using Timer A interrupts. The PC emulates a GPS. It provides position information to, and accepts transmited data from, the msp430. When I switched from the...

I'm trying to run the GPS IDE application under Windows 2000 together with the GNU tools for the MSP430. However, when I create a new project with the project wizard no makefile is generated. Incidentally, the project wizard never prompts for the tools to be used which would be needed for generating a make file. One of the main advantages when using an IDE is the fact that one does not have

Thank you very much for your responses. My system will be deployed in a building, so I expect 20C to 25C degrees an= d both crystals will be the same. The systems are both wireless and they will need to sync in this way (more = than likely). I would consider the GPS 1PPS. It might be somewhat expensive and impractic= al in some situations, as you mentioned. Considering all the optio...

Im looking for something that can give a MSP430F1232 a message like: :Hello, here i am and im 243cm away from you and 154cm up in the air!! Wheter it goes through the 10 bit adc or via RF or something else (i dont know)dosent matter as long as its simple and cheap! BTW, can some newer RFID tags tell its position? GPS se

I am monitoring the NMEA stream from a GPS and need to recognize the $GPGLL header. The scheme I am trying use is to take bytes out of the UART and shift them up through three registers. After each new entry I test for the header pattern. The problem is that nothing gets shifted through the registers. I use the SWPB instruction elsewhere in my code and it works. Something is wrong with m...

I would like to use a pin on an MSP430F169/1611 to receive GPS data at 4800 baud. I have timer A ticking away at 32KHz, but that's a bit low to be useful I think. Hi folks, I'm trying to find the best way of reading a stream of incoming characters on asynchronous USCIA0 port. The data rate is 9600BAUD, and the characters are NMEA strings from a GPS receiver.
