Well I am currently at about 28 hours (or more). As they expect everybody to use their webforms if the web forms are not working nothing gets through. -- Paul Carpenter | paul@pcserviceselectronics.co.uk <http://www.pcserviceselectronics.co.uk/> PC Services <http://www.gnuh8.org.uk/> GNU H8 & mailing list info <http://www.badweb.org.uk/> For those web sites you hate

I also hate when I come across this. When TI first put up a web site it was not long before they tried the mandatory login routine. But after a year or so they got rid of it. Now they have the best web site of all the semi vendors. When I went to LM's web site I found that I have to do the registration, but they don't wait for you to get the email with the access code. You get to the data sheets right away. Even when you use a bogus email address, it will give you access and you can use the same login later. I guess they just don't police the list as a way to not tick off people who don't want to give out their real info. Heck, if they got my info directly from their web site they wouldn't need to send me salesmen every week anymore!!! I just wish I could tell a salesman that they did not get the design win because I didn't care for the web site. But then I would be forced to use some parts that I don't like a lot, like the TI TMS470 ARM parts. They just use too much power for my apps. Considering that both Atmel and NXP have pretty poor web sites, it would be a close race if the socket was given to the one of these two that had the best site! Maybe I could swing it to the MSP430?

I wonder how many companies have opened sales offices in Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria.... because of those stupid forms! -- John Devereux

Hmm, good point, would not want any collateral damage to innocent parties. Do you think I am safe to use just_give_me_the_datasheet@you.useless.cretins ? -- John Devereux

That sounds perfect to me. It sends a message with no collateral damage.

I occasionally use a contact address at the company with the form. The possible downside is they will decide the problem is that the e-mail address's are available not that they are blocking access to gather address's themselves.
