Hi everyone, I just had to do an upgrade of my motherboard, but I overlooked one little thing, it didn't have an RS232 header. I found this device, and the circuit seems straight forward, but I would like to know if it can be setup as a com1 device? If it does, i'll start making an internal adapter based off of the FT232RL device. Thanks Gary T ----------

Hi Does any body knows about a small encoder (quadrature) to spi interface ? to connect directly between the encoder and the BasicX ? I'm trying to make a small servo system using the BasicX as my "servo" but I would like to find a IC to use as the encoder monitor to "unload" the BasicX get an outside IC to track the position in real-time. Independent from the BasicX. Any Ideas ? ...

I am wondering if anyone has any information on interfacing to a USB Jump Drive? (Thumb Drive, Flash Stick, Mem Stick, whatever you want to call it) I have see several posts throughout forums like this one about using devices to access SD and CF cards, but not USB. Can it be as easy as using a TTL or RS232 to USB convertor and just knowing the right commands to read and write files i...

I'm looking to increase the amount of RAM that my LCDX has so I can receive RS232 messages as large as 4K (Since the BasicX only has 400 bytes of RAM, this is a problem). The only way I can think to do this is to use a Ramtron FRAM device with a SPI interface (FM25640). I want to recieve the data from the COM port's input queue and transfere it through the SPI line to the FRAME and then...

A tutorial article I wrote describing how to get started using the BX-24 and other NetMedia devices is appearing in an amateur radio magazine called "CQ Amateur Radio" (March issue). The beginning programs are simple and deal with sending and copying Morse code using the chip. Additional programming is pointed to by the article which deals with reading temperatures, using an LCD display an...

Can a variable be used in the getpin(pin) command? something like: pinnmbr = 13 pinval = getpin(pinnmbr) I have quite a large program to control 3 intelligent sensors. Would be nice to have 1 program to control all 3 sensors by just changing the pin number assignment.

Do other recent noobs think similarly?] I'm a newbie to this stuff and I didn't really find much info on the BX-24 when I was trying to find something to start with. I don't think this chip is geared toward newbies. I th...
