hi, is there a way to increase the number of PCI boards connected to a PC104+ motherboard to more than 4? Are "PCI bridge" known to do this job or not? Are there any PCI-PCI bridge board in PC104+ format? Are there some low power 3.3V PCI bridge chip? Are PCI bridge transparent to the application so that the software developper (Windows OS) do not care if the PCI board is behind...

I'm looking for a converter that will allow me to hook up a compact PCI expansion chassis to a PCI based machine. (basically a CPCI board, a PCI board, and a cable to go between the two.) I figure it may be that simple since CPCI is electrically identical to PCI, just on a different form factor, right? Anybody know of somebody who makes such a thing? Also, how would hot-swap capable bo...

Hi all, I have some basic doubts on PCI arbiter. 1)how is the framen controlled -- i guess it is a shared resource on the PCI bus wher all the devices sitting on the PCI bus have access to it. 2)If a request is received from a device on PCI bus ,should the grant be issued immediately or should the PCI arbiter wait until the framen is dropped (asserted). 3)If a request is rece...

Does anybody know of any good PCI bus controllers that are suitable for use hobby boards. I've been thinking about designing a fully fledged PC using a ColdFire chip with SDRAM, PCI, USB and IDE. Getting Linux up and running shouldn't be a problem if I use common USB and PCI chips. Any suggestions and sources for nice PCI bus controllers? Dave

Is it possible to buy a CF/SD card or generally flash storage on a mini-PCI card? I have a device with a mini-PCI card, and would like to add it some "storage" - I thought I could use mini-PCI for it. Does something like "storage" (1GB etc.) on a mini-PCI exist at all? I tried to search on the internet, but all I found were wireless cards and modems on a mini-PCI. -- Tomasz Chm...

I have an old motherboard which has four pci slots. I want to use it as one pci output port. I would like to use pci interface as low frequency simple output. pci can work lower than 133/4 =33Mhz for example 133/16=8.3Mhz no interrupt required, no handshaking. there wont be any register on target board so no device id no port no memory information. is it possible to output data like this...

It seems like PCI Express has been granted the go ahead as the official replacement for PCI. I'm wondering what if anything the embedded world thinks of this? Pro v. Con off the top of my head: + serial, less traces - serial, tighter signalling specs + hotplug - point to point How will microcontrollers integrate PCI-express? PCI was a bus, you could just run the bus to al...

I was having a small problem interfacing a linux driver with a PCI card (FPGA with OC PCI bridge Core). I was having problems when sending data to addresses different from multiples of 4 (e.g 1, 2, 3, 5...)..After some homework i think i could find the explanation to my problem. Reading the PCI spec, i could see that on memory space transactions (read and write), the bits 0 and 1 of the AD l...

We are trying to use PCI backplane with multiple PCI cards including USB card. The embedded processor is X86 with DOS and 32 bit extension (DPMI). The PCI cards are producing shared interrupts and we are having problems of different types, which we suspect are either in our driver software or in the hardware (PCI cards) including the transparent chips in the backplane. We would appreciate ...

Actually we simply developed the interface without considering about specifications. And now I found that they are provided by PCI-S...

Dear experts in this area, I am trying to configure a PCI board plugged into my PC, running Windows 2000 sp3. This board is the Memec PCI development board, with a Spartan II-200 FPGA connected to the 32-bit PCI bus. I figured that either BIOS or Windows configures the PCI board at bootup, and assigns the BAR0 etc. I am using an FPGA with the Xilinx PCI32 LogiCore. Hence, the Command a...

Hi everyone, I'm working on a conversion project where we needed to convert a PCI acquisition card to a PCI-express (x1) acquisition card. The project is essentially the same except instead that the new acquisition card is a PCI-express endpoint instead of being a standard-PCI endpoint. The project is implemented on a Xilinx FPGA, but I don't think my issue is Xilinx specific. The conve...

I'm looking for a PCI USB 1.1 host controller and a PCI-ATA controller that will satisfy the "Digi-Key test" (i.e. available no-questions-asked in small quantity) for a low-volume application.
