Hi Is it just me or does anyone else think that Microchips latest move (removing Microchip FAEs from distributers), is another big mistake? Already my companys biggest distributer has decided to stop pushing Microchip (because they can no longer provide the full support package), in favor of Atmel. I know that Microchip think that providing all an FAEs function using their new onli...

This in the news: "Microchip sues Zilog over 8-pin microcontrollers" and it's not April 1st ? Microchip used to be an engineering focused company, who took a small Micrcontroller core, and used it very well. Now, it seems Zilog must be taking a chunk of their pie, and they cannot compete on technical merit alone ? So, let's glance at what innovation they claim to have ? ...

Hello Group, I am facing the seemingly impossible task to identify a SMD chip marked Microchip 85-8024-00 . Microchip obviously has no such part number listed nor do I ever recall seeing such part numbering for their products. Custom part marking comes to mind. However, I googled and found several Far East part brokers which have it , but didn't want to talk with me technical info . Nobody i...

I'd like to program my PIC16F84 with microchip MPLAB ICD 2 (I use this software : microchip MPLAB IDE version 6.30.0.0). It seems that the MPLAB ICD 2 doesn't support this PIC, and I can't program it. What's wrong? Are there other possibilities to progam this type of PIC with the same programmer? Thank-you very much for reply. Roby.

Hi, I have the Cypress FX2LP development kit, and according to the manual, I can select either large EEPROM(Microchip 24LC128) for simulation or small EEPROM(Microchip 24LC00) for debugging. Since I'm still in my development stage, I'm debugging the firmware, so I'm choosing small EEPROM. The problem is that I wish to address another I2C EEPROM chip in my firmware, a Microchip 24AA08. Hi All I hope someone can help me here. I've tried Microchip, but maybe I'm not explaining things well enough. I have a board which has a 32.768KHz crystal directly connected to the SOSCI/SOSCO pins on the dsPIC. After setting up the configuration bits correctly, for running internal FRC w/PLL, I wrote the program below, using some bits from Microchip demos, and programmed the device, b...
