I'm a software person that is in over my head. I have to select a 1553 interface card for a 6U cPCI chassis that has a PowerPC board running vxWorks. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about cPCI, except for some reading I've done today. My problem is that I don't know what I need to check so I can be reasonably certain that a cPCI interface card will be compatible with our chassis & pr...

Hi, Can 3U cPCI cards ALWAYS be used in a 6U cPCI system (voltage variations aside)? I've looked at a number of FAQs and links from the Wikipedia page and I don't see it spelled out. I know about the 5V and 3.3V variations. FWIW, I have a GE Defense processor board, which is 6U, with an Elma passive backplane.

Hello, I am reading up and trying to understand ATCA (Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture). It seems to be defined by the same group that defined Compact PCI. What is the difference between the ATCA backplane and a (run of the mill 6U) cPCI backplane. Can I stick a cPCI board in an ATCA chassis and vice-versa? Also what does ATCA provide over cPCI. Regards, Xav

I have access to a 6u cPCI CP2060 Ultrasparc 500MHz board with 512MB Ram on board. It also has 2 ethernet chips, USB and serial, but no connectors on the front panel. The size of the board and its very low power requirements (23W max) begs the question, can it be put into a 1U chassis and how. I will need a cPCI power supply that fits in 1u. Given than, I'll need to connect a PCI scsi card...

Hi, We have a cPCI board with DVI output. Build a DVI -> tft converter with TI chip TFP401. The tft display we use has a resolution of 640x480. When we start the board we see the bios start up. But we only see a part of the screen in the 3rd quadrant of the screen. 1|2 4|3 The image we see must be shifted to the left and to the top. Seems as if the cPCI card is always running with a

Hi; Thanks for reading this. I am looking for a cPCI controller that will run win2K or XP. It has to have an operating temperature range of from -20C to 85C( this is a mandatory requirement). Also Needs a V(io) of 3.3 volts and I would like to be able to use a FLASH drive due to the temp extremes. Does anybody know of anyone who makes a product that might work for us? Thanks...

Thought I would post this here in case someone is searching for it as I was. There seems to be no online reference except the PXI reference document its self. I came up with a correct pxisys.ini for a cPCI chassis with PXI cards in slot 3,4,5 (you can move them to any three slots) where the PXI signal bus is exported to the J2 connector on the rear of the chassis. Might come in handy if y...

I'm looking for a converter that will allow me to hook up a compact PCI expansion chassis to a PCI based machine. (basically a CPCI board, a PCI board, and a cable to go between the two.) I figure it may be that simple since CPCI is electrically identical to PCI, just on a different form factor, right? Anybody know of somebody who makes such a thing? Also, how would hot-swap capable bo...

Hi, does anybody know good a cPCI and potentially ATCA board for embedded HDLC processing? What I am looking for is an embedded softswitch for the HDLC packets. It should be able to process them depending on the content and forward between interfaces. E1/T1, Ethernet and H.110 should be all present. Besides forwarding within the board a biderectional host data interface is needed as well. Th...

Consider a Pentium PC with main memory and a PCI bus. One can plug memory-type devices into the PCI bus, things like video or ADC buffers, CPCI cards, and including, I suppose, more program-space memory. A couple of questions: Is there (I guess there must be) a mechanism for a Windows program to directly map a chunk of PCI-bus memory into its virtual address space? Anybody know how this...

Hello, I needed to get ideas on how to simulate a FIFO interface on the PCI interface. I have a SBC w/ vxWorks and a Communication board in a cPCI chassis. The SBC runs an application that feeds data through the PCI interface to a FIFO on the Comm board. The Comm board has a number of control and status registers and receives data through a single 32-bit memory mapped address (that is the in...
