Hello - I'm venturing into a PC104 project and have few questions to start off. I have no experience with PC104 whatsoever. The goal is for a PC104 module to talk to another board with an FPGA on it. Questions are: 1. Can I use any version of Linux on the PC104 ? 2. To save time, I hope to use the PC104 in 8-bit mode. Does anyone see a problem with this approach ? 3. Does anyone hav...

Hi, I am a PC104 newbie. I am trying to boot a PC104 using a Compactflash flash memory card. To do so, I first copied system files onto it (from a Windows98 machine). I then used the flash card to boot the PC104, but encountered "Disk I/O error". Could someone let me know what could be wrong? Thanks, Niranjan

I have a project that I will be doing on a PC104 system. Before I call the dozens of vendors who don't give pricing info online, I would like to ask whether anyone else has selected PC104 systems lately, and if so what they found. REQUIREMENTS: Very low performance 386 or 486. A 16Mhz 386SX would be overkill. Runs MS-DOS. 1MB memory. Very, very cheap. The cheaper the better...

I have searched a lot for a computer or at least a box with a back plane, where I can put in 5 or more PC104 cards. All PC104 computers I saw, only had cages with room for 2-3 cards. I think there must be providers offering larger cages. Is there someone who provides large cages with a back plane for I PC104 processor card? thanks ulli

Hey guys, first time posting here. I'm new to PC104. At uni we are building a mini electric race car and the team decided to use a PC104 to run everything including data acquisition (don't know why they opted for a ground up system when there were packages available for noobs) We are using two brush less DC motors integrated with 2 inverters (DC to 3 phase AC) and IGBT switch. The controller is...

I'm also trying to design a PC104 (ISA) bus board. I will interface an ADC (AD9220 or faster) via FIFO buffer to PC104 (ISA) bus. I need to control ADC to digitize input signal in a burst and store the converted data into a FIFO. When FIFO is full, I need to generate an interrupt to signal the PC104 for data transfer. Unfortunatelly I do not have enough experience with CPLD / FPGA (yet). ...

I recently purchased a PC104, what operating systems can be purchased to run these boards. I have a Compact Flash Card aa a hard drive using windows 95 and 98 which writes continusly to the compact flash. I would imagine this would shorten the life of the card. Would I be best using "CE" or Linix, C++, Dos etc. Thanks Simon

Hello, I have a small PC104 device with one USB port. As of yet, I'm not too familiar with USB, except to know there is exactly 1 master and many slaves. I would like to know if it is possible to make the PC104 device look like a slave, so that I can have it emulate a "usb storage device". It's used for a logger, and eventually I'll insert a harddrive (instead of the now current fla...

Hi, I have a PC104 from kontron (mops_lcd) that I can't read IO ports from the ISA bus, The write to ports is ok but the read gets 0xff always. (even with datalines forced '0' all the time) Looks that IO input is comming from elsewhere as onboard devices like LPT or COM work well I suspect a bridge config or whatever... Kontron support doesn't really help and I wonder if anyone has step...
