I just started a project and I've been spending the last few days searching for an appropriate PC/104 Single Board Computer. I was hopeing to find one with built-in WiFi capability (versus a PCMCIA WiFi card + Drivers) but as of yet, I've had no luck. Does anyone know off-hand of such a product?

Gang: Now that all the cuel new laptops have no serial ports and no PCMCIA card slot, and I am stuck haplessly with USB, does anyone have a good experience with any USB (or fire-wire) serial devices? I have many legacy apps that want to talk to a UART real bad and the quality of the driver would be the issue here. I would really appreciate a couple of names of devices I could purchase...

suggestions please We use Cirrus' ARM9 9312 on a board, which is big( 28mm square ). it has built in MAC it has 3 serial ports, though 2 are a bit short on handshake lines. it has built-in LCD graphics we have so far only used big TQFP ram/flash chips with it. it has a big brother the 9315 which supports a PCMCIA interface, but we would need to change the artwork to use it. tha...

I was looking at the EBX specification and it appears that they have located the PC/104 mount very close to the PCMCIA mount. I don't see where you would be able to fit connectors and such in the space between them that the PC/104 spec allows for. The copy of the EBX spec I downloaded has a very poor mechanical drawing and is missing a lot of details such as mounting holes and spacing betwe...

Hi, I have to interface a WiFi card (most likely PCMCIA, probably USB too) onto a board that also has a motor controller. The embedded motor controller traditionally uses an 8-bit microcontroller. But some of the users' desires now ask for network connectivity to monitor the motor controller, so I figure, heck, i'll give them a WLAN option too. I figure i can probably just add i2c or spi...

I need to develop a product and a feel that a SBC is the best for what i need to do. I need the SBC to be powerful enough to run full-screen video (at 600 x 800) but also cheap. My system requirements are stereo audio outputs, CF Card/PCMCIA (for wireless networking, or similar connection for wireless networking), 2 serial ports, and LVDS outputs for video. What SBC would be best for me? Than...

I am looking for a way to do the above, on an old Intel PM24555 20MB linear FLASH card. This is the kind of thing http://www.psism.com/linearflash.htm The PM24555 appears to no longer be made but similar cards do exist. I can get the PM24555 cards easily enough; it's reading and writing them which is tricky. I believe it may be easier under unix but I really want a windows (or DOS)...

We build a small embedded device that is using a 16-Bit PCMCIA card for an Ethernet adapter. This was fine 10 years ago, but now we need to upgrade the processor/adapter and are thinking about possibly using a PCI Express based WiFi card. Looking through this newsgroup and Googling the web, I don't see any starting points for using an embedded micro with a single PCIe card. We searched o...

Hi. I am new to this group, I have look through the archive (as much of the old archive as possible) but haven't found any solution. I wish to interface a AVR Mega128 to read USB Memory Sticks or worst case PCMCIA Memory Flash Cards. Thus the USB I am loking for is a master rather than the off-the- shelf slave designs. Can anyone kindly point me to a URL with such a interface design...

My embedded system uses a serial port for configuration and logging operations. Then, software running on a notebook computer communicates with this embedded system to process configuration and logging data. The software running on notebook computer implements a DOS-based serial driver not Windows-based serial driver. This serial driver is pretty old. Most newer notebook computers no longer ...
