You're asking about a software simulator. I've only used the one provided by IAR - but it is impressive. It's configurable and you can program IRQ's - etc. I think the simulator may work in the free 8KB version - you can go to www.iar.com and take a look. Hi there, we have an ICE subsytem with the following pins: - CK (clock) - DO (data out) - DI (data in) - EN- (enable) - RST- (reset) The text in parentheses is our forecast meaning of the pin, while the uppercase acronyms are their names as reported in the (few) technical notes we have. Each pin has the "ICE" prefix, so we know this is a generic In-Circuit Emulator. The datashee...

I'm working with a very old 68360 based embedded system running from flash ROM based on pSOS+ RTOS, and need to debug. The BDM cannot do hardware breakpoints while running from ROM and thus I'm looking for an emulator that may work with this. I've tried an old Mikrotek power-pack, but it's DOA upon boot, and am looking at what anyone may have around they no longer need. I don't have a bud...

We have been successfully using the EVS setup for many years. We have just seen a problem and are not entirely sure how to go about solving it. Whenever attempting to modify memory locations, the emulator interface spits out the error "Corrupt memory at address xxxx" (we are using the E9 and the entire $D000 block of memory is corrupt, thus inhibiting us from loading or running programs.) ...

I am attempting to write a command line interface for my embedded application (LM3S1439 based). I would like some advice on how to best approach it. Some of my specifications would be: -the CLI should communicate with any terminal emulator. -the backspace key should work as intended -other controls like arrow keys etc not necessary and should be ignored -the enter key delimits the command...

Greetings: For a change of pace (or a hands-on introduction to using an in-circuit emulator), please try: http://www.cybertheque.org/homebrew/hmi-200 Here you will have realtime access to ICE hardware and you can compile/assemble/execute/debug example code or your own code. Please try the DC-200Hz digital oscilloscope and my take on Tom Pittman's 1977 TinyBasic interpreter available...

Hello, All! I started to use WindRiver JTAG emulator and supplied program visionCLICK 7.10a. And I faced with some issue. I have to prepare image for downloading to flash. I use convert utility from visionCLICK suite, actually I'm using GUI frontend for it. So, my input file is ELF format. Documentation is saying that I can specify range addresses for BIN image like: 0x00000000 to 0xf...

Hi all, I'm getting up to speed on the MSP430 with the ez340-Rf2500 dev kit, which connects to a pc via a USB-to-serial emulator. That is, the device is plugged into a USB port, but shows up as a COM port in Windows. For my application, I'd like this device to report real-time sensor data to the host computer, where it will be logged. I figure I should really have a serial port sniffer to ai...

After several intsruments built with the 6805, I'm looking to upgrade to a more modern processor with more code space and RAM, as well as more modern debugging schemes. The 6808 series seems to fit the bill, specifically the GP32 chip. One of my biggest hangups about the 6805 is the ancient and poorly supported debugging/emulator tools (I use the Cosmic compiler which I DO like). After my ...

In all my embedded DSP based products I use an RS232 port (driven with printf) as a means of seeing whats going on inside a CPU or DSP. I was considering using an X Windows terminal emulator program (whi...

For an existing motor control application, we're considering upgrading from our current ROMless ST10R167 processor to newer one with onboard flash to get faster execution. One of the main attractions of the Infineon XC16X chips is JTAG debugging, with excellent code and onboard peripheral compatibility with the C167/ST10. (Using a bond-out emulator isn't practical with our equipment.) We use ...

Are there any commercial adaptors that would replace a floppy drive with some type of flash storage (sd, mmc, thumb drive)? To the host, this would have to look just like the floppy drive it replaced, but use different media. The reason I ask is there are many old but useful embedded systems which have only the floppy for storage but no other interfaces (no IDE or USB).
